Meeting For Coaches

Posted on 22 January, 2018 at 13:00 Comments comments (0)

We have sent an urgent email to all of our coaches, asking them to attend a meeting next Monday evening.

We need to prepare our plans for 2018, and to obtain their views on a range of issues that affect the Club and its continued development.

In the email, our chairman, Kieran Devenish, wrote:

"One of the issues that we need to discuss is how we should work together to develop a full-size grass pitch at Furbo.

"The Club has tentatively secured a Sports Capital Grant of €50,000 towards this project – but that Grant will be lost unless we start the work within the next two years.

"And because we regard our coaches as an integral part of this Club – it's 'beating heart' – it's essential that we find out your views on how the club is being managed and what needs to be done to improve things."

This meeting will be held between 8.30pm – 9.45pm next Monday, 29th January, in the function room at the Twelve Hotel, Barna. (An Beanna Beola - top Floor).

All coaches are asked to reply to the email, indicating if they can attend or not.

If you wish to play, please let Niall know before Monday, 18th December. The cost to play will be a minimum of €10 donation, but in excess of this would be most appreciated as well!

Light refreshments will be served afterwards in Donnelly's, Barna, with the presentation of the Ray Rooney Memorial Cup to the winning team.

Our chosen charity this year will be the local Samaritans branch.

Last year, our team won back the cup, raising over €400 in the process for ACT For Meningitis. Niall Rooney and Paul Silke (Oughterard FC) are pictured presenting the proceeds to Siobhan Carroll, founder of the Galway-based charity.

****Please note that the date on the FAI's event calendar is October 21 in The Connacht Hotel, but their initial notificatication to clubs was the date given below, and this has not been updated on their website.****

The Football Association of Ireland is currently redesigning the coaching pathway and one of the significant changes to the pathway will be the introduction of the National 'C' Licence.

This has been developed to bridge the gap from Youth Certificate to UEFA ‘B’ Licence. Up until the end of 2016 those who have complete the Youth Certificate in 2016, 2015 and 2014 would be eligible to apply for the UEFA ‘B’ License as long as they had completed CPD each year.

These Youth Certificate coaches will be required to attend a conversion course to the National 'C' Licence because the Youth Certificate they completed worked up to 5 v 5 and the National 'C' Licence is working to 7 v 7. These conversion dates are as follows, and the conversion course fee is €125:

September 25th 2016 Cork

October 24th 2016 Galway

November 27th 2016 Dublin

December 4th 2016 Sligo

For further information please contact Coach Education Manager Niall O’Regan on [email protected]

Any coach who completed the Youth prior to 2014 and who has not completed FAI CPD would be required to complete the National 'C' Licence. There are a number of National 'C' Licence’s available to apply as part of the release of the course in 2016 and the courses are restricted to 20 participants so please ensure to apply as soon as possible.

Coaches applying for the course would be required to have been eligible to complete the current Youth Certificate, which includes completion of the Kick Start 1 and 2 and the Small Sided Games Work Shops. Application forms can be obtained by emailing [email protected] and/or [email protected]

The National 'C' Licence Course Dates are as follows and the course fee is €600.

We have received a Powerpoint presentation that was given to the Galway FA, and other organisations, by the FAI regarding new revisions to the game.

"It is important to note that the referees have been given this presentation also and will implement these rules with immediate effect," Bob Wynne told us, adding that this should be passed on to all relevant staff.

If you are interested in receiving this presentation by email, please fill in the contact form and we will be in touch asap.

Thanks
